About Team Agua
Team Agua is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) team with members of all ages, races and backgrounds. We have a strong competition team, but also a big group of members who do not compete.
In the class these two groups get mixed up nicely into a good team spirit. We train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) in Amsterdam, The Hague (Den Haag), Rotterdam and Almere in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere where everybody feels welcome. Our main focus is training with Gi, but we also train without Gi: Grappling or Submission Wrestling. We provide Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) classes within our team too. The MMA classes are taught by professionals but are for amateurs.
Team Agua has been training for a long time, but was officially founded in 2007. Before the foundation in 2007, Cadu Francis was the teacher. He is the man that learned the basics to the teachers and older Team Agua students. He taught us from 2003 till 2005.
Then in 2006 Augusto Ferrari and Vagner Boca spent several months in Holland teaching, also learning us a lot. In 2007 Remco van Baardewijk, Farid Ben Omar and Jessie Gibbs took over and founded Team Agua.
Several times a year we receive Brazilian guest instructors to teach seminars and classes at our team. Besides inspiring and fun, this also keeps us updated with the latest techniques from the topschools from Brazil. This is very important, since BJJ is an ever evolving sport, where new techniques are still created on a regular basis.
